2019 Internship with the Office of Representative Thaddeus Jones

An internship position with The District Office of State Representative Thaddeus Jones entails serving the residents of the district by providing information, assistance connecting with state agencies and state services and advocating for the needs of constituents. An internship in Representative Jones’ district office is a great way to gain valuable experience and learn about state government, legislation, local and statewide issues and the many ways that elected officials serve constituents. Our internship is unpaid, however our office can accommodate students requesting academic credit for their internship through their school or university.

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
  • Conduct community outreach
  • Attend and assist with coordinating community meetings and events
  • Execute issue-based social media campaigns
  • Answer telephones and respond to constituent requests
  • Assist with special projects
  • Conduct constituent casework
  • Routine community canvasing
  • Write press releases
  • Research and learn about legislation
  • Research information and produce materials helpful to constituents
  • Management of various databases
Requirements of the Position:
  • Ability to serve the public in a friendly manner
  • Strong writing and communication skills
  • Ability to work with people of all ages and backgrounds
  • three-month commitment, ten to fifteen hours a week.
